At the core of all of our stresses, anxieties and worries about our lives and our relationships, there is a lack of self-love. It seems that in order to be truly happy, we must first learn to love ourselves - fully and completely and embrace all of our strengths and weaknesses, our good and our bad.

We have heard many times that building self-love is one of the most important things that we can do for ourselves, and yet surprisingly only a few people actually truly love themselves. In fact, some people believe that being self loving is a selfish act.

According to psychologist, Erich Fromm; loving ourselves is different from being arrogant, conceited or egocentric. He proposed that loving oneself means caring about oneself, taking responsibility for oneself, respecting oneself, and knowing oneself (e.g. being realistic and honest about one's strengths and weaknesses). He further proposed, that in order to be able to truly love others, a person must be able to love oneself first in this way.

The great Zen Master, Thich Nhat Hanh frequently talks about learning compassion for ourselves. We cannot possibly have true compassion for others until we learn to have compassion for ourselves. In order to develop compassion for ourselves, we must be willing to sit with ourselves and face the suffering that is inside. It is this act of being able to look at our suffering deeply and non-judgmentally that brings us understanding and begins to transmute our stresses, anxieties and worries.  Indeed, loving ourselves has the ability to heal the deepest wounds within our psyche and liberate us from our suffering and limitations.

On Saturday Feb 9th, I will be presenting a very Special Intensive - "All About Self Love".  This is a highly experiential intensive where students will be guided through a process to access the subconscious blocks, patterns and programs to truly loving yourself unconditionally and release them completely. This process is deep and creates a powerful shift in those who experience it.  During this process, Cognitive interventions and deep energy work will:

This special experiential class will:

  • Provide an understanding of the overall topic of self-love from a deep psychological and spiritual perspective.
  • Bring understanding of the personal blocks (patterns and programs) that prevent us from unconditionally loving ourselves.
  • Guide students through an experiential exercise to connect with a part of their Pain Body.
  • Release some blocked energies, emotional wounds and experience healing.
  • Retrieve fragmented parts of consciousness to reintegrate back into the psyche.
